CDA, PCB Sign MoU to Upgrade Cricket Facilities and Launch Talent Hunt Program in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: December 4, 2025 : A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding the upgradation of cricket grounds and the promotion of cricket in the Federal Capital, Islamabad. The MoU was signed during a meeting between Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, and the Chief Operating Officer of PCB, Sameer Ahmed. The meeting was attended by Member Administration CDA Board, Talat Mahmood, Member Engineering, Syed Nafasat Raza, Director Sports and Culture and other senior officers of CDA. Under the MoU, a Talent Hunt Program will be launched in the Federal Capital, Islamabad, to promote cricket among youth. This Talent Hunt Program will provide equal opportunities to young boys and girls. The program will not only facilitate the transparent selection of players but will also provide them with coaching and training of international standards. Under the MoU, PCB will also assist CDA in the upgradation of two cricket grounds in Islamabad. Chief Operating Officer PCB, Sameer Ahmed, said that they are fully prepared to cooperate with CDA for the promotion of cricket in Islamabad. He said that these measures will not only promote cricket in the federal capital but will also bring forward best young talent. Chairman CDA, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, said that comprehensive measures are being taken to make the Federal Capital, Islamabad, a hub for international and national sports. He said that work is being done not only on cricket but also on the upgradation of facilities and grounds for other sports including hockey and football. Chairman CDA said that the revenue generated from the cricket ground and other sports grounds will be spent on the promotion of sports and the improvement of sports facilities. Similarly, a women's cricket team for Islamabad is also being formed to promote cricket among women as well. The meeting also reiterated the commitment to intensify joint efforts to promote cricket and healthy activities in Islamabad through mutual cooperation. Chairman CDA further said that the objective of these measures is to encourage sports and constructiv activities among the youth and to transform the Capital into a state-of-the-art sports hub and recreational activities.
