CDA, Chinese Embassy Agree to Boost Cooperation and Launch Rainwater Harvesting in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: 26 February, 2026: A meeting was held on Thursday at the CDA Headquarters between Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa and Counselor Zhao Yang of the Chinese Embassy. The meeting was attended by Administration Head of the Chinese Embassy, Sun Mingji and Chinese Attache Yao Delong, along with CDA Board Member Planning and Design Dr. Khalid Hafiz, Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza and other senior officers. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa welcomed the delegation from the Chinese Embassy at the CDA Headquarters. During the meeting, discussions were held regarding the resolution of issues faced by the diplomatic community in the Federal Capital Islamabad, matters of mutual interest and the further promotion of bilateral cooperation. Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, said that the CDA is ready to provide every possible facilitation to the diplomatic community particularly the Chinese Embassy. Chinese Counselor expressed gratitude for the cooperation extended by the CDA regarding the facilitation provided to the Chinese Embassy in the Federal Capital Islamabad. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that Pakistan and China share brotherly relations and providing every possible facility to the Chinese Embassy is a matter of great honor for the CDA. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that the CDA has taken important initiative regarding rooftop rainwater harvesting in the Federal Capital Islamabad. He said that in this regard, it can be introduced in embassies and residential areas within the Diplomatic Enclave, and this initiative will help raise the groundwater level and address the issue of water scarcity. Chinese Counselor appreciated this important initiative of rainwater harvesting and expressed willingness to take lead and implement it first at the Chinese Embassy. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that the CDA is fully ready to provide facilitation and guidance for this important initiative of rooftop rainwater harvesting. Chinese Counselor praised the CDA's special efforts regarding landscaping for beautifying the City, said that impressive landscaping and environment-friendly tree plantation have been witnessed in the Federal Capital Islamabad. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that there is further scope for cooperation between China and Pakistan in the fields of landscaping and horticulture. He said that in this regard, China can provide its expertise and guidance for the Gardenia Hub model nursery and the horticulture sector in the Federal Capital Islamabad. Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, further said that Pakistan views its relations with its brotherly country China with great respect and honor. The meeting also reaffirmed the commitment to further strengthen mutual cooperation and bilateral relations.
