He said that the CDA is committed to promoting investment in the Capital, improving service delivery, upgrading infrastructure and meeting the civic needs of citizens. He further stated that the revenue generated through the open auction of commercial plots would be utilized for the improvement of the city's infrastructure, completion of mega projects, provision of civic amenities and resolution of longstanding issues, particularly those related to water supply. He added that timely completion of ongoing development projects aimed at further improving Islamabad's infrastructure would also be ensured. It is pertinent to mention that the CDA has recently taken a historic decision regarding parking facilities to facilitate developers and the business community. Under the new decision, the parking requirement for commercial buildings has been revised from 750 square feet to 1,000 square feet per car. The revised parking standard will apply to the ongoing auction as well as all future open auctions. Various categories of commercial plots are being offered during the three-day auction, which has attracted a large number of investors and members of the business community. The auction includes commercial plots in various Markaz, E-11 Northern Strip, agro-farms and petrol pump sites. Constructed shops in the Blue Area Parking Plaza are also part of the auction. The CDA is offering an additional 5% discount on payments made in US dollars, while a 5% discount is available on full payment made within 30 days of bid approval. Approval of building plans is facilitated after payment of the first 25% of the bid amount, while possession of the plot can be obtained after payment of 75% of the bid amount. After completion of the requisite scrutiny process, the bids received during the auction will be placed before the CDA Board, the competent forum for their approval or rejection. The Chairman Auction Committee expressed gratitude to investors for reposing their confidence in the CDA and said that the Authority remains fully committed to improving civic amenities, upgrading infrastructure and promoting construction, investment and sustainable development in Islamabad.
