ISLAMABAD: November 27, 2025 : A meeting was held on Thursday at the CDA Headquarters, chaired by Chief Commissioner Islamabad and Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) Muhammad Ali Randhawa, regarding a modern traffic management system and digital parking to transform the Federal Capital, Islamabad, into a smart city. The meeting was attended by IG Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, CDA Board Member Admin Talat Mehmood, Member Planning and Design Dr. Khalid Hafiz, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, senior officers from Islamabad Police, Chief Officer of MCI, as well as senior officials from the CDA and the Excise and Taxation Islamabad. During the briefing given to the meeting, it was informed that in line with the direction of Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, the process of installing M-Tags on vehicles throughout the city is progressing rapidly. The meeting was informed that, so far, over 35,000 vehicles in the Federal Capital, Islamabad, have been fitted with M-Tags. The meeting was informed that, keeping in view the convenience of citizens, 10 points have been established at various locations across the city, and the number of M-Tag counters is being continuously increased for further ease of the public. Similarly, for effective vehicle monitoring, the M-Tag system will also be integrated with the Islamabad Safe City Project. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that modern technology and artificial intelligence will be used to resolve digital parking and traffic issues in Islamabad. He said that digital parking facilities in the City will also be made available to citizens through a modern mobile application. IG Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said that various measures are being taken to transform Islamabad from a safe city into a smart city. He mentioned that work on the e-challan system under the Islamabad Safe City Project is also being expedited. Chairman CDA said that as a result of these measures, Islamabad will be transformed into a state-of-the-art digital and smart City. He said that controlling traffic and parking issues will save citizens both time and fuel. Chairman CDA further said that the purpose of these measures is to ensure the provision of modern traffic systems and the best parking facilities to the citizens.
