Chairman CDA Expresses Satisfaction over Construction Progress of Shaheen Chowk Underpass Project

ISLAMABAD: November 6, 2025 : Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, visited the Shaheen Chowk Underpass Project along with Member Engineering Syed Nafasat Raza and Member Planning and Design Dr. Khalid Hafiz. During the visit, he inspected various sections of the ongoing construction work. The concerned officers briefed the Chairman on the project’s progress, informing him that excavation work has been completed, while concrete pouring, piling, earthwork, and steel fixing are in full swing. It was further apprised that construction activities are being carried out round the clock to ensure timely completion of the project. Expressing satisfaction over the pace and quality of the ongoing work, Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa emphasized that all construction activities must be completed within the stipulated timelines while maintaining the highest quality and engineering standards. He directed the concerned departments to prepare a comprehensive plan for landscaping, environmentally friendly plantation, and permanent installation of LED lighting to enhance the project’s aesthetics and ensure environmental sustainability. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that the Shaheen Chowk Underpass Project would serve as a major milestone in addressing traffic congestion and providing comfortable travel facilities to commuters. He added that the project would also benefit students and residents of adjoining educational institutions and neighborhoods by easing mobility and reducing travel time. He further instructed the Project Director and Resident Engineers to ensure strict monitoring and adherence to quality standards throughout all stages of construction.
