ISLAMABAD: 3rd March, 2026: A meeting was held on Tuesday at CDA Headquarters between the Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, and Additional Secretary Joudat Ayaz and a delegation of Chinese investors. The meeting was attended by CDA Board Member Administration Talat Mehmood, Member Planning and Design Dr. Khalid Hafiz and other senior officers. Discussions were held regarding the promotion of electric charging stations and the acquisition of innovative and modern technology in the Federal capital, Islamabad. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that there are immense opportunities for investment in electric charging infrastructure in the Federal Capital, Islamabad. He said that the CDA has adopted regulations regarding electric vehicle charging stations, and implementation of these regulations is now being ensured. Member Planning and Design CDA, Dr. Khalid Hafiz, said that according to these regulations, a 3% charging facility has been made mandatory in commercial buildings. Furthermore, as per the regulations it is mandatory to establish charging stations at nearly all 138 filling stations in the Federal Capital, Islamabad. Similarly, it will be mandatory to install one electric charging point at existing filling stations and two electric charging points at new filling stations. Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, said that planning is underway to establish charging hubs at various locations in the Federal Capital. Chinese delegation said that they are ready to provide all possible cooperation regarding the establishment of electric charging stations in the Federal Capital, Islamabad. They also briefed about 3D printed housing technology. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa directed that a feasibility study be prepared regarding 3D printed housing technology in the Federal Capital, Islamabad. He said that they aim to promote modern and innovative technology as well as low-cost green and eco-friendly housing in the Capital City, Islamabad. He said that work should also be done on technology transfer in this regard in the Federal Capital, Islamabad. Discussions were also held during the meeting regarding the introduction of electric bikes and electric scooties in Islamabad. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that work is going on various environment-friendly projects, including the introduction of electric trams in the Federal Capital, Islamabad. He further said that they are creating a conducive environment for investment in this regard in the Federal Capital, Islamabad. The meeting reaffirmed the commitment to promote mutual cooperation regarding electric charging infrastructure, Innovative technological solutions, transfer of environment-friendly technology, and related projects.
