Chairman CDA Visits Kashmir Chowk to Review Latest Progress on Project and Traffic Management Measures

ISLAMABAD, September 22, 2026: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) visited Kashmir Chowk to review the latest progress on the ongoing development project, as well as the measures being undertaken to improve traffic flow and reduce traffic congestion at one of the capital's important and busy traffic junctions. During the visit, Chairman CDA reviewed the latest progress on the Kashmir Chowk Underpass Project. On the occasion, the Director General Infrastructure gave the Chairman a detailed briefing regarding the progress achieved so far, ongoing works, project timelines, and measures being adopted to ensure timely completion of the project. Chairman CDA stated that the Kashmir Chowk project is of significant importance for improving traffic flow and providing long-term relief to commuters. The construction of the underpass is aimed at facilitating smoother vehicular movement, reducing traffic waiting time and delays, and easing traffic congestion at Kashmir Chowk, particularly during peak hours. Chairman CDA also reviewed the prevailing traffic situation at Kashmir Chowk and adjoining roads and inspected the immediate traffic management measures being undertaken by CDA. He directed the concerned formations to ensure that temporary and short term traffic management arrangements remain effective until completion of the permanent infrastructure solution, so that citizens and commuters do not face any inconvenience during their daily travel. The Chairman was also briefed on the Traffic Management Solution at Kashmir Chowk, Murree Road, aimed at improving traffic flow and addressing existing bottlenecks. Chairman CDA directed that all necessary measures be implemented through close coordination and a comprehensive strategy so that citizens face minimum inconvenience during the execution of development works and traffic continues to flow smoothly. These initiatives form part of CDA's broader strategy to develop an integrated, efficient and modern road network in Islamabad, ensuring that traffic flow keeps pace with the development of the city and that citizens are provided with better and more efficient transportation facilities. Chairman CDA directed the concerned officers to expedite work on all development projects and ensure their completion within the stipulated timelines. He emphasized that all development works must be executed in accordance with the highest standards of quality, engineering principles and safety requirements, while ensuring minimum disruption to traffic and the daily routine of citizens. He further directed that all infrastructure development measures should be implemented in close coordination and consultation with all relevant departments and formations. He emphasized that special attention should be given to peak hour traffic management, improvement of roads wherever required, lane management and ensuring smooth connectivity between major roads and arteries. Chairman CDA directed the concerned DG Infrastructure, Project Directors and field officers to conduct regular site inspections and ensure effective monitoring of the pace and quality of work. He instructed that any issue or bottleneck affecting project implementation should be identified immediately and resolved in a timely manner through coordinated efforts. *Chairman CDA reiterated that public facilitation, improved mobility and transportation facilities, modern infrastructure development and effective traffic management are among the key priorities of CDA. He stated that CDA is committed to making Islamabad a developed, clean, green, safe and beautiful capital of Pakistan.* He said that work is being accelerated on underpasses, bridges, roads and other major development projects across Islamabad to improve infrastructure, address traffic-related issues and provide better transportation facilities to citizens. These projects will not only facilitate smoother movement for commuters but will also contribute to promoting commercial and economic activities in the capital. *On the occasion, citizens, particularly commuters who travel through Kashmir Chowk on a daily basis, appreciated the initiatives being undertaken by CDA to address traffic-related issues and provide modern infrastructure. The citizens appreciated the Kashmir Chowk Underpass, along with the development and improvement of roads, bridges and other infrastructure projects, terming these initiatives important for public convenience and improvement in traffic flow.
