Islamabad, October 23, 2026: On the directions of Federal Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and under the leadership of Chairman CDA Sohail Ashraf, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has extended solid waste management services to the rural areas of Zones IV and V of Islamabad for the first time in its history. This landmark initiative aims to address longstanding sanitation challenges and provide residents of far-flung and previously underserved areas with a cleaner, healthier environment. Under the new rural sanitation services, 65 Union Councils, primarily located in Zones IV and V. Bhara Kahu and other rural and suburban areas falling within these zones have also been included to ensure improved sanitation facilities for local residents. Under the initiative, the company will manage approximately 342 tonnes of solid waste daily, deploying between 1,300 and 1,610 personnel and approximately 103 to 104 vehicles and machinery units. The deployment of modern machinery, trained staff and an organised operational system is aimed at improving waste collection, transportation and proper disposal across these areas. The initiative seeks to address longstanding gaps in sanitation services, reduce environmental pollution and extend improved municipal facilities to rural and suburban communities. Citizens have appreciated CDA's cleanliness drive in Bhara Kahu and other areas of Zones IV and V, particularly in far-flung communities that have historically received limited sanitation services. The extension of formal solid waste management services to these areas marks an important step towards improving cleanliness and ensuring better municipal services for rural residents. Under the direction and vision of Federal Minister for Interior Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and under the leadership of Chairman CDA Sohail Ashraf, CDA is working to ensure that sanitation services are extended beyond the central sectors of Islamabad to rural and suburban communities. The initiative reflects the authority's commitment to providing more equitable municipal services and addressing the needs of residents across the federal capital. The comprehensive solid waste management system is expected to improve sanitation standards, support public health, reduce environmental pollution and enhance the overall cleanliness of Islamabad.
