ISLAMABAD: September 15, 2025: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, chaired an important meeting at the CDA headquarters on Monday. The meeting was attended by IG Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, CDA Board members, Islamabad Traffic Police, ICT administration and senior officers of CDA. The meeting decided to adopt a zero-tolerance policy against illegal car parking and strict enforcement of traffic rules. Several decisions were made to address traffic issues and illegal car parking problems in the Capital City. Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner said that vehicles will not be allowed to park on the main roads of Islamabad and strict legal action will be taken against such illegal parking. The meeting decided to form a special Pak Secretariat Traffic Unit (STU). Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Islamabad directed the immediate activation of Secretariat Traffic Unit (STU). During the briefing, it was informed that this special unit would comprise DSP Traffic Police and district administration officers. The meeting was further informed that the newly constructed parking in the Pak Secretariat has been opened for government employees and the general public, while working on two new parking areas adjacent to Jama Mosque at Pak Secretariat and Kohsar Block has begun as a permanent solution for parking in the Pak Secretariat. The meeting decided to permanently remove vehicles from the main roads of the Pakistan Secretariat. It was informed that valet parking services are being introduced in these new parking areas for the convenience of Pak Secretariat employees. IG Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi said that no leniency would be shown towards wrong-way driving in Islamabad. He mentioned that 165 FIRs have already been registered against illegal parking and wrong-way drivers. IG Islamabad Police said that strict legal action would also be taken against those driving without a license from October 1st. Chief Commissioner directed the launch of an awareness campaign for compliance with illegal parking and traffic laws. The meeting was informed that dedicated parking facilities would also be provided for schools located in sectors F-6, F-7, and E-7. Chairman CDA directed the Planning Wing to immediately plan for identifying additional parking sites in the markazs. During the briefing, it was apprised that a state-of-the-art signage system is being installed for better traffic management. The meeting issued orders to impose fines on those littering outside hotels and restaurants. It was informed that this decision was made to maintain high standards of cleanliness in Islamabad. The meeting decided to monitor elements littering outside hotels and restaurants through Safe City cameras. Chairman CDA directed that daily reports on wrong parking and littering be compiled. He also instructed that trader unions be taken into confidence regarding enforcement of these measures. Chairman CDA and Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhwa said that a zero-tolerance policy would be adopted against illegal parking and littering in Pakistan. He said that the purpose of these measures is to resolve traffic issues while ensuring compliance with traffic rules and making Islamabad a clean model city.
