Major CDA Initiative: Operation Launched to Clear Encroachments from Park Adjacent to G-7 Khadda Market

ISLAMABAD: 15th March, 2026: In accordance with the Master Plan of Islamabad, the land located adjacent to the Khadda Market in Sector G-7 is designated for a public park. However, for a considerable period, this land had been illegally occupied by mechanics associated with auto workshops and residents of the adjoining katchi abadi. During a recent identification drive and detailed survey by the Capital Development Authority (CDA), it came to light that numerous illegal constructions had been created on the said park land. According to the initial assessment, the mechanics had constructed 12 rooms on the park land, which were being used for both residential and commercial purposes. Furthermore, the construction of some houses from the adjacent katchi abadi was also found to have partially encroached upon the park land. Due to these illegal constructions and encroachments the original status of the park had been completely compromised and the area residents had been deprived of this public amenity for a long time. Taking immediate notice, keeping in view public complaints and the convenience of citizens CDA decided to launch an anti-encroachment operation to restore the park to its original condition. In this regard, prior notices were issued to all illegal occupants, providing them with a stipulated deadline to voluntarily vacate the park land. Following the expiration of the deadline, CDA has commenced the operation in a highly organized and peaceful manner. During the course of the action so far, 09 illegal constructions have been demolished, while the operation to remove the remaining encroachments will continue in the coming days. The primary objective of this operation is to retrieve the park land from the land mafia and restore it to its original state, enabling the citizens of Federal Capital Islamabad to once again benefit from this public amenity and be provided with a healthy and pleasant environment.
