CDA, SNGPL Agree to Expedite Gas Pipeline Replacement in Islamabad Before Winter

ISLAMABAD: September 22, 2025: Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, held a meeting with General Manager Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL), Adnan Ahmed, at CDA Headquarters. Member Environment Esfandyar Baloch, Member Finance Tahir Naeem, and other senior officers also attended. On the direction of the Managing Director SNGPL, the General Manager briefed the Chairman CDA on the progress of the new gas pipeline network in Sector G-6 and Blue Area. It was agreed that the installation work will be resumed without delay. The MD SNGPL stated that the replacement of the long-deteriorated gas pipelines in Islamabad has already been initiated. He added that the new network will help prevent leakages and losses, while ensuring an improved and uninterrupted gas supply to residents. Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa assured full support for the early completion of the project. He noted that the Engineering and Environment Wings have already issued the necessary NOCs to SNGPL. He further directed that the gas pipeline installation must be completed before the onset of winter to ensure citizens do not face shortages. He also emphasized that consumers should not experience inconvenience during the replacement process. The Chairman further instructed SNGPL to provide gas connections to the Gandhara Citizen Center in F-9 at the earliest, while strictly stopping supply to illegal constructions and unauthorized areas. The GM SNGPL informed that an effective strategy is being implemented to improve gas pressure in Islamabad, with all necessary measures to be finalized ahead of winter. Chairman CDA reiterated that CDA is fully utilizing its resources to provide basic facilities to citizens. Both CDA and SNGPL reaffirmed their commitment to mutual cooperation and working together for improved public services.
