ISLAMABAD: February 15, 2026: A Cycling Championship was successfully organized on Sunday by the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and the Metropolitan Corporation (MCI) to promote green mobility in the Federal Capital, Islamabad. The MCI, in collaboration with Allied Bank Limited (ABL), successfully organized the CDA Cycling Championship at D-Chowk and the area adjacent to Jinnah Avenue, in which a large number of citizens, including cycling enthusiasts from across the City, participated. Approximately 300 cyclists participated in the Cycling Championship, which is a testament to the public's interest in healthy and environmentally friendly recreational activities. According to details, competitions in various categories were held in this championship, including Open Men, Open Women, Senior Men, Senior Women, Under-16 and Under-9. The championship ensured participation across all age groups and genders under a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). Member Finance CDA Tahir Naeem, District Magistrate Islamabad, Director Sports, DSP Traffic Police and President Islamabad Chamber of Commerce participated in the championship as special guests. Similarly members of the national women's cricket team along with high-ranking officials and dignitaries also attended as special guests and took part in the cycling activity. Citizens, including cycling enthusiasts participating in the championship, specifically praised these initiatives of the CDA and said that the CDA and MCI should continue such healthy activities on a regular basis. CO MCI Dr. Anam Fatima said that this championship demonstrates the commitment of CDA and MCI to raise awareness regarding the promotion of green mobility in urban areas. She said that MCI and CDA will continue to organize such activities to promote a healthy lifestyle and public participation. She further added that providing healthy recreational activities to the citizens of the Federal Capital, Islamabad, is among our top priorities.
